He lit the room up.
Tim was my nurse when I came into the Emergency Department. From the moment he walked into my room, he lit the room up. He was kind, funny, punchy, and showed his compassion by checking on my poor husband who was so stressed about what was happening to me.
He asked if I needed pain medicine and when I said I didn’t need it, he made a point of telling me that he respected I didn’t need pain medicine, but I did have a real condition that caused pain and if I changed my mind and needed pain medicine just to let him know. Then, he checked back on me frequently to be sure I was still doing okay and that he would get me anything I needed.
I observed my nurse checking on his fellow co-workers and helping them as they needed. He made making a difference look easy. Tim made my traumatic experience bearable. He showed me more kindness than I ever expected. Thank you, Tim, for providing me with an unforgettable act of kindness. Please don’t change anything about who you are or how you provide care to your patients!
