Tina is a staff nurse at Akron General Medical Center. Tina consistently serves as a preceptor for Walsh University. Each week an undergraduate student "shadows" a nurse for the entire clinical day. The RN is expected to teach the student how to manage a patient assignment (at least 5 patients), pass medications, and deal with other priorities that arise.
Tina has a calm demeanor, but more importantly the student observes her excellent clinical skills and compassionate, empathetic demeanor. She always shares her stories with the students of how a particular patient touched her heart. Tina told one story about a patient that was actively dying of cancer and was transferred to the oncology department. Tina went and visited the patient, even on her day off, to hold his hand and comfort him in his last days.
There are multiple stories of Tina's compassion and how she consistently "goes above and beyond".  The students love shadowing her and gain invaluable insight into the clinical practice of nursing and the compassionate, empathetic side of nursing.
