Tina has worked at JRMC for many years, serving in many different capacities. She will tell you that her favorite role is bedside nursing, where the nurse can minister to people and make enormous positive changes in the lives of both families and patients, as well as their fellow nurses.
She has served both her staff and her hospital with enormous heart, passion, and preseverance.
You can tell when someone is successful by the number of people who respect them as a co-worker, and Tina more than fits this criteria.
As the ICU Manager, she arrived early every day and NEVER hesitated to jump in and help her co-workers, even taking patient assignments when needed to do so, and she did this many times, on both nights and days.. This earned her respect and compassion as she strived to succeed in a job that demands more than most are willing to give.
I highly recommend her for the DAISY Award for her heart. She buried her brother in a tragic accident as a fireman and suffered trauma when her husband snd she were involved in a car accident during her tenure as ICU nurse manager. She still never failed to come into work and assure that we had our paychecks and she still continued to monitor the everchanging needs of the unit. She also demonstrated strength when times were most stressful in the ICU, like when we were having to put in extra time to assure compliance, yet we still felt her support, even in the midst of her stern demands to improve our performance. As a result, people worked diligently to keep down lost charges and coming in to work to help fill in the needs list posted in order to assure that the unit did not suffer, making us all successful/ We never lacked juice or snacks for our patients, equipment was repaired promptly and problems were addressed with a vehemence that ensured solutions with physcians, adminstration, and families. We all knew she respected us and the pressures we faced of the intense job we have in the unit and would defend us if necessary. How amazing is that!
I love Tina and I know that if she was my nurse and I was her patient that I would benefit extraordinarily from that fact. She would fight for me and encourage me and her knowledge of critical care would assure that I would receive the best care. God bless all nurses, but especially Tina McDaniel, for everything she has given to her staff, her co-workers, and her patients.
