Tina McElwain, RN
Tina was presented with the DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses during a celebration at Coastal Carolina Hospital.
The nomination from her colleagues reads:
"With a genuine smile and a cheerful attitude, Tina quietly shines as one of our Med-Surg stars. Her multifunctional role and designated 'Techretary RN,'as she would call it, reflect her ability to always be ready and available for whatever the day might bring.
As a relief charge RN and unit preceptor, she is able to teach, demonstrate, and communicate in ways that speak life into each nursing duty, no matter how small. As a compassionate teacher, she extends her years of wisdom and knowledge to the next generation. She believes that each student and new staff member that she orients truly wants to provide quality care for our patients.
Tina takes immense pride in her role. Every week, our patients share their stories of how her simple gestures are just as meaningful as the grandest of tasks! They even come back after discharge to personally thank her.
Her commitment to nursing, her patients, and her colleagues (though rarely broadcast, as she would never want the attention-resonating) is a loud privilege for each of us. We are delighted to be working alongside of her! She is truly deserving of this honor."
