The nurse I was so fortunate to get during my stay was Tina McSwain. She went above and beyond her call of duty to help me and my family. During my stay my mother came to visit even though she lived out of town. She had an allergic reaction to some medications. Here I was in the hospital and my mother needed help too. That is when Tina began to ask questions to help my mother get relief. She called the hospital pharmacist to get advice on the drug interaction. Once my mother got to the hospital Tina continued to offer her assistance to my mother by calling down to the Emergency Room to see if they could see her right away. I am so thankful for the many other things she did that made my time here less painful, emotional and overwhelming for me, and my family. Even my seven year old daughter told me being in the hospital was a lot easier.

I was caring for a patient who had MR. Her group home sitter and I tried to get the patient to ambulate in the halls three times a day. It was hard to get the patient up and motivated. My co-worker Tina took it upon herself to call the supervisor, get stickers from the ED and some toys. She then made a “walking chart” so that the patient could put a sticker on the chart each time she walked the halls. The group home sitter was elated and the patient liked to pick her stickers. What a creative idea! Great job Tina!
