May 2015 Honoree
tina mitchell, RN
Tina is a constant example of what a "Mercy Employee" should strive to be. She shows examples of our Core values on a daily basis. I have seen her stop her busy morning duties to sit on the bedside with a patient who needed her undivided attention, at the most busy point in her day. She seemed as though she had all the time in the world for this individual. She didn't interrupt the patient to stick to her routine and ensured that the immediate needs of her other patients were met by coordinated team work.
Tina shows empathy and sympathy to everyone around her. I have seen her gently touch the hand of a sick patient when no one was looking and take time to let them know she will keep them in her prayers. The bible speaks of "entertaining Angels aware" and I have thought at times when I watch and observe the way that Tina delivers care on a daily basis, that perhaps she may be one of those angels among us. I will forever keep her methods of delivering compassionate care in my heart as a guide as I continue my nursing journey.
