Tiphanie Lee-Trotz, BSN, RN

I want to nominate my RN, Tiphanie. She was my day shift nurse, and from the very beginning, I could tell she was going to be outstanding. Tiphanie arrived ready to work, just as all nurses do, but what made her stand out was her ability to listen, her patience, and her incredible bedside manner.

She advocated for me and spoke highly of my doctor, who was rounding with patients a few hours after she gave the report. My doctor was also very patient and listened to my concerns, which, in my experience, is a rare quality. I expressed to Tiphanie and the charge nurse that my pain is typically best managed with a PCA pump. With their support and my own self-advocacy, they ensured my doctor was aware. Once the doctor approved the pump, Tiphanie made it her mission to set it up properly and ensure everything was done correctly.

Although she may have been fairly new, I couldn’t tell because she handled everything with confidence and needed very little assistance. She was thorough with my vitals, followed protocol, and remained kind, patient, understanding, and informative throughout my care. We had conversations about my lab results, and she reassured me that she wanted me to stay calm during my recovery and that she would ensure I remained comfortable.

I truly appreciate how sweet, kind, and patient she was. Her overall goal was to ensure that my pain was well-managed, and she succeeded. Grady has many great nurses, but Tiphanie stood out to me for her exceptional care. She treated me as if I were a family member, took her time, smiled throughout the entire shift, and never once complained.

Although she may have been new, she handled the shift effortlessly, only needing assistance once or twice. She made me feel comfortable and made my recovery process so much easier. I truly cannot express enough how much I appreciate RN Tiphanie—she is the best nurse I’ve had so far. She consistently goes above and beyond, which is why she deserves the DAISY Award.
