Tiraneka (Tira) Broadway is an exceptional nurse whose professionalism and compassion made a profound impact on me during my recent hospital stay at Baylor University Medical Center. During the final days of my hospitalization, my PTSD began to intensify, and I was working very hard to keep it under control. Tira could see that I was struggling with my mental health and stepped in with calm understanding and care.

Tira’s strong foundation in nursing is evident in her clinical skill, but what helped me most was her ability to recognize that I was experiencing a serious mental health crisis, which is something that cannot be taught. She demonstrated exceptional knowledge in patient care, helping me to acknowledge and manage the mental health challenges I was facing. I have severe PTSD that is usually well managed, but I had been off my medications since being in the hospital, as they had not been offered or administered.

Tira immediately notified staff and requested that my mental health medications be reinstated. These medications have been a part of my treatment for over twenty years and have been vital in helping me manage PTSD, depression, and ADHD. Her professionalism never wavered, even when I was having a difficult time. Tira’s calm demeanor, clear communication, and dedication to my well-being helped me safely get through an incredibly tough period.

She consistently went above and beyond, offering compassionate support and active listening to ensure I felt heard. It came naturally to her to tailor her approach to ease my anxiety and help me feel safe. Her ability to balance clinical decision-making with genuine empathy sets her apart as a caregiver of the highest caliber.
