Tocara is an exceptional nurse whether she is in charge or at the bedside. So many of her colleagues speak of her at staff meetings and councils on how helpful she is when she is in Charge. She seeks out who needs help and is always there to support her team. There have been times when I was so busy with a complicated patient and she would automatically go see my other patients and take the initiative and make sure they had their needs met. She is patient, sweet and kind. So many families appreciate her care and compassion. One particular family comes to mind.
It was a child with a poor prognosis who is neuro devastated and family had been here for months. When mom came to us, she was really anxious and afraid of the unknown. Tocara signed up to primary him, recognizing the fact that this patient and family needed a lot of TLC. She always treats the patient with lots of patience and speaks to him in a loving way that mom has noticed. Mon has even said that Tocara says that "mom has to take care of herself to be able to take care of her son". She always makes sure that mom eats and gets breakfast because she knows mom will forget with just being busy and anxious with the day. Tocara has helped so much in helping this family trust and be confident in our care.
Tocara has a patient and calming manner that brightens anyone's day even during times of stress or sadness. She is exceptional and truly deserving of a DAISY Award.
