Tocarra received 5 sincere nominations highlighting her professionalism, going above and beyond, and the comfort she provides to each patient and family she encounters. She was described as a “blessing” and that her “positive energy could help ANYONE heal.”

One patient wrote, "With my family being out of town, I was unable to call them from the hospital-provided phone. Tocarra went out of her way to personally keep the family informed, which gave me peace of mind."

Another patient wrote, "Tocarra cared for me 4 out of the 6 days I was hospitalized, and she made being there more bearable. She showed me so much compassion and grace that it helped me to forget for a while that I was stuck there. She even made my special needs son more comfortable with seeing me in the condition I was in; he remembered her and would ask about her each day. That is the type of lasting impression she made on me and my family. Tocarra is a blessing, and I hope that she continues to touch patients' lives for many more years to come."

A family member wrote, "My brother-in-law can be a handful, but Tocarra put him at ease right from the start. When it came time for him to be transferred to rehab, he was very concerned that they would not address his pain issues because they failed to do so before. When Tocarra heard of this, she became his advocate and worked with him and the hospitalist to get a plan that worked and could easily be continued. This eased him and made the transition much smoother. He has been in rehab and is doing much better with therapy because Tocarra took the time to make sure his concerns were addressed and that the orders followed him to rehab. Many of the staff on 5E were caring and compassionate, but Tocarra stood out a step above. Her kindness, compassion, and advocacy exemplify the very best of the nurses at Chesapeake Regional.
