September 2022 Honoree
Tom Bradshaw, RN l
I came to a saddened, heart stopping moment in my life that I wasn't wanted or loved anymore by anyone when my marriage came to an end after 3 1/2 years. My wife literally squeezed the life right out of me. I was beaten and battered by her during the 3 1/2 year marriage to the point of nearly having a nervous breakdown. I broke down in my room. Tom literally stopped what he was doing and spoke to me. He held my hand as I wept in front of everyone in my room and he said to me, "Don't give up on yourself." I've been given a new start (lease) on life and God says it's time for me to take care of me now. He was absolutely right. Tom looked me in the eyes and said I was needed, I was wanted and I was loved. The staff members and especially this nurse restored my hope and faith again. The words were caring, meaningful, and genuine. I feel so good about myself, and I feel recharged and I'm looking toward having a beautiful life thanks to him. Tom took me off that pivotal balancing edge of life and helped me put my feet back on solid ground. I hold a special place in my heart for him and the whole unit.
Thank you, Tom, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
