Today I had the pleasure of watching a "True" VA nurse demonstrate exceptional care to a Veteran and his family. Basically, Mr. Carlson asked the Veteran how he was doing and the "wife" replied about her frustration in getting the patient timely care for his CPAP. Tom listened to the wife and then he promptly addressed the issue. He explained he worked in that department and would personally assure appointments were made. He investigated what types of CPAP the patient had etc. I stood there, mesmerized by the I CARE Values this employee demonstrated. He listened with empathy and understanding and then he took care of the issue. I write this nomination because today I saw the wife and inquired of her how things were going. She subsequently PRAISED and PRAISED the services they received. She kept mentioning how appreciative she was of Tom.
