Despite holding an executive position, Tom remains deeply connected to the frontline, ensuring that every decision is grounded in improving patient outcomes.
It is with great admiration and respect that I nominate Tom for the DAISY Award. As a nurse executive level leader, Tom exemplifies servant leadership in its truest form. He leads with humility, integrity, and a deep-rooted commitment to supporting others with a healthy serving of "excel expertise"-no matter their role or title. Tom consistently supports a culture where people feel seen, heard, and empowered to make patient care better.

Since Tom is fluent in "Nerd" he is always willing to help any team member collect, analyze, and improve patient outcomes with data. Whether it's reviewing data trends, participating in root cause analyses, or brainstorming solutions for clinical challenges, Tom makes himself available and approachable. His support is not just symbolic-it's active, thoughtful, and always centered on better outcomes for patients. Tom is equally equipped to hold his team accountable and raise the bar, ensuring that our patients get the care they deserve.

A powerful example of this is Tom's work in reducing admit-to-bed time in the pediatric area. Recognizing the impact this metric has on patient safety, throughput, and staff workflow, Tom collaborated closely with a multidisciplinary group of stakeholders to analyze delays, identify bottlenecks, and implement meaningful changes. His leadership in this initiative led to more timely admissions, enhanced coordination between departments, and improved experiences for patients and families. It also strengthened interdepartmental partnerships and reinforced a culture of continuous improvement.

What sets Tom apart is not just what he does, but how he does it. He leads by example-with compassion, curiosity, and a relentless drive to make healthcare better. Despite holding an executive position, Tom remains deeply connected to the frontline, ensuring that every decision is grounded in improving patient outcomes. Tom is frequently seen rounding on his units, participating in listening sessions, and staying connected to the things that impact work at the frontline.

For his unwavering commitment to service, his tireless support of team members, and his passion for improving patient care in every role he serves, Tom is profoundly deserving of the DAISY Nurse Leader Award, and I am honored to nominate him.
