Little did we know this wonderful nurse, Tom Sanguino, would come into our lives to help us take care of our dying son. Not only did Tom care for our son, he cared for my husband, his brother, other family members, and me. Tom's kind manner and gentle guidance were just what we needed. He was infinitely patient in explaining what was happening, how we could make my son comfortable, and how we should find time to take care of ourselves.

My son was not the easiest patient to care for, he wanted to do things his way and Tom always found a way to respect his wishes but provide comfort and make sure he was safe. My son was adamant about staying in his room and not moving into the main part of our home. Tom made it work, no small feat.

My son's last days were very difficult for all of us. I'm not sure how we could have made it through without Tom. He just seemed to know when we needed him the most and took care of us. Evergreen Hospice is very fortunate to have Tom on staff. He is the gold standard for the nursing profession. We cannot thank him enough for what he did for our family.
