Tomi set aside time to buy the patient flowers and make them into a bouquet, make her a veil, and find another IU employee who was ordained.
Tomi worked hard to go above and beyond for a COVID patient she cared for. This patient had a poor prognosis after receiving all treatments available and was discussing comfort care. The patient was an elderly woman who had a long-term boyfriend for many years. She wanted to marry him before she passed and Tomi set aside time to buy the patient flowers and make them into a bouquet, make her a veil, and find another IU employee who was ordained and could officiate the ceremony. They were able to call the boyfriend over the phone and perform a ceremony for them. She also got multiple canvases and was able to help the patient paint handprints to give to family members as a memento after her passing. Tomi truly lived our IU Health values when caring for this patient!
