When Tonia came onto her shift that night, I was quite agitated and upset. I hadn't eaten all day because of some testing that had been postponed for 3 hours. She informed me that it would be at least another 3 hours before I could get any food at all. She used her awesome personality to help me understand how important the additional testing was to help diagnose an infection.
Tonia took the time to listen to me and explain the results of the tests that were already completed. She made it comfortable for me to understand why the testing was necessary. Her cheery disposition helped me relax so much that the next 3 hours went by quickly and smoothly. She had me smiling and giggling within 10 minutes of starting her shift.
On the way to the CT scan, Tonia took it upon herself to get the papers to order food for me. On the way back from the CT, she asked her aide to pick up my order. She cared so much about my emotional well-being that I feel she should be recognized for changing my negative attitude into a positive one. She turned my attitude completely around and helped me to see that these tests were necessary for my recovery. She was awesome and I truly appreciate her helping me not only physically but changing my attitude as well. Thank you so much, Tonia. I will always remember you.
