Tonika was able to come in and console him and calm him down.
Tonika was my son's nurse and although she was wonderful throughout finding solutions quickly, she was also sure to communicate with him in a way that he understood so that he was comfortable with understanding his treatment. She has the perfect balance of being stern when needed for proper treatment and compassion and understanding with patients and their families. The most impressive experience we had was the day after my son’s surgery and his first bandage change. He was seeing the wound for the first time which was shocking. He was in a lot of pain and was very upset. Tonika was able to come in and console him and calm him down. I believe this was due to the trust and care she had shown him previously. I was very thankful for her help during such an awful time. She should be recognized for her hard work and dedication to her patients and their families. It is important to make a patient feel that they're heard by their caretakers and are willing to find solutions. Tonika certainly does and I cannot be more thankful for that!
