Tonya has been a truly invaluable addition to our surgery staff here at Shelbyville. After transferring from Mary & Elizabeth over a year ago she has excelled in improving our patient experience and teamwork. She has the personality and drive to make every day a better day if you come in contact with her at all, whether it be on the phone or in person. Tonya started in our preop area but soon transitioned to initiate a much-needed PAT department here at Shelbyville. She has decreased same-day cancellations, increased our patient satisfaction, and fellow staff, anesthesia, and our providers cannot say enough about how she has improved the flow and consistency of our preop dept. which flows over to all of surgery. One doctor has mentioned how she catches important details that were getting missed about patients, another doctor used to have 5-7 cancellations on his surgery days and Tonya has improved them to 1-3, and last week we had our first no-cancellation day! I cannot list all that have commented on her great work, or her thoughtfulness and caring - the list would be too long- but if anyone deserves it she does!
