... A young woman with two small kids had a rare form of leukemia and was briefly treated at the Infusion Center. Although Tonya did not know the patient for very long, she developed a special bond with her. Shortly before Christmas, this young woman was admitted to the hospital and was not expected to survive. Employees of MCCG, who were touched by this woman's situation, banded together to give her and her family a last Christmas to remember. Money was collected for the toys and gifts for the two young kids. Tonya volunteered to brave the crowds on Black Friday at Wal-Mart to do all the shopping for the kid's gifts. Not only did she shop for all the gifts, she took it upon herself to wrap all the gifts. Tonya brought some of the gifts to the hospital for an early Christmas party in the patient's room. The kids enjoyed it so much. The other surprise for the kids came from Tonya and her husband personally when they delivered a trampoline to the family's home. The eight year old was so overwhelmed that he began to cry. Tonya went above and beyond to make this family's last Christmas together one they will never forget.

Tonya is considered to be an exceptional employee and one of the most caring individuals many have ever known. She continually goes above and beyond her duties but does not even realize it because it is just in her nature to extend deepest compassion and concern for her patients and co-workers.
