Tonya is extremely compassionate about her patients. She shows her clinical skills in all endoscopy cases. She is very kind to her patients, patient's families and staff. She has been a well rounded nurse coming from OB to Endoscopy.
There was a situation with a patient that was having a scope done with no family support. Tonya was very compassionate and was there for that patient. The patient was very nervous and anxious before the procedure during pre-op. She used kind words and a caring heart to comfort the patient during a stressful situation. The patient was elderly and was so sweet to everyone. She stayed with the patient during pre-op till brought back to the endoscopy area. She was his RN during the case and took him over to Recovery when finished. During his recovery time, she constantly checked on him and was there for him.
She has a big heart and is very caring. You can see in her actions alone she cares so much for the people. Tonya shows empathy in all situations she is placed in. Tonya showed her interpersonal skills by conecting with the patient and being there for him. In every case, Tonya fully assesses her patients for past medical history, medication taken and reason for the exam. When scheduling out the day, Tonya shows good decision making skills on what patient is a priority. She collaborates with the charge nurse to help call in the morning on floor patients to see which are ready and if any implementation needs to be done for their preps. During cases, Tonya collaborates with the doctors to provide the care needed for the patients. She wants the patients to meet their goals. She always puts the patients first in every situation.
