I would like to recognize Torey for her extraordinary care. Torey was on duty when my daughter was in St. Joseph Hospital, Lexington for heart problems and chronic, severe pelvic pain. My daughter had called me, very distressed, at the prospect of being discharged, since she had been cleared for her heart problem (stress-induced cardiomyopathy) but was still having severe (8 on a scale of 0-10) pelvic/abdominal pain with no relief and no answers to what was causing it or an outpatient treatment plan. Torey was very responsive to my concern about my daughter, understood the issue quickly that without an answer to her pain condition the heart issue would likely return, and my daughter would be on the same merry-go-round she had been on since a hysterectomy to address the pain a year previously. I believe largely due to Torey's effort, my daughter was transferred to St. Joseph East where she could have a consult from gynecology to address the pain condition. Torey then had the presence of mind to call me later to let me know further care had been arranged, much toour relief. It was a blessing to deal with a professional who was so quickly responsive to a patient's medical concerns in a caring manner and effective in her efforts to address the need. Her actions that day, in my opinion, exceeded usual and customary care, reflecting a caring and talented nurse.
Although my daughter's pain condition is continuing to be followed on an outpatient basis and is not fully resolved, I believe Torey's efforts were a key factor to getting her connected with a physician who is willing and able to carry out an effective plan of care. I will always be appreciative of her efforts.

I was House Manager on duty this day when Torey called me to assist her in advocating for this patient to get her transferred to SJE under the care of a gynecologist. I can attest to the time and efforts Torey put into both the compassion, empathy and safety of this patient to assure that she was getting the care that she needed for healing and hope, our mission here at Kentucky One. This is not the only time Torey has called me personally to either assist her or to make sure that she was doing everything that she could to provide the best care for her patient. Torey exemplifies our core values of reverence, integrity, compassion, and excellence to the utmost standards. Torey, you truly are an extraordinary nurse!

As a patient, the care I received was above the call of duty. She advocated for me, always adequately went above the level of care I needed. She always made sure I was not in pain and made my experience positive while here.
