My mother-in-law was admitted to the hospital. It was there we met an amazing nurse by the name of Tori. Tori not only frequently came to her room to monitor her condition and provide care, but she also arranged it so mom could have the room to herself in order for family members to come and say goodbye. I had several conversations with Tori, not only about what was happening medically at the moment but also about what to expect in the near future. It was easy to tell that being a nurse wasn't just something Tori did for a job, it was who she was as a person.

Tori handled this professionally and with empathy. She had other patients as well yet she always made time to check on not only my mother-in-law but the family as well. I can't say enough about how much this meant to the family, especially this close to the holiday season. It takes a special person to be a nurse but on this particular day, Tori made a bad day a bit better because we knew that my mother-in-law would go to her final resting place with dignity.
