Tori had a very depressed and upset patient who was expecting to discharge that morning, which happened to be his birthday. Unfortunately, the doctor informed him he would have to stay another day. Tori went down to the gift shop, purchased him a birthday card and treat, and had the entire unit staff sign it for him. When she presented the card and treat to the patient, he immediately hugged her and began sobbing. This was his first birthday without his wife who had passed earlier this year. He said, "This was the most thoughtful gift!" Tori went above and beyond to treat the whole patient that day, and I've never been more proud to call her my coworker.
