My nurse for 3 days was Traci. She was training a new graduate so her care wasn't always direct with me but she was still so present in every moment when I would be in excruciating pain. She was consistently on the ball, ready to call whatever doctor necessary to get me taken care of. She was full of compassion. There were multiple times my family would come get her. She would drop everything to come right away to check on me or give me pain meds. She went above and beyond to make me feel comfortable in an uncomfortable setting. Twice she walked me out of the unit just so I could get a little freedom from the room. She brought me a cupcake to cheer me up, due to having to stay another day. I can go on and on with examples of how she made me feel like the only patient, while also training, which is extremely hard to do. Being a nurse, confined to the hospital unit is one of the last places you want to be, but I got so much from her care. I learned from her compassion and kindness, encouraging me to be a better and more compassionate nurse. She hands down is a DAISY Nurse.
