While you can train someone on protocols and procedures, there is an innate compassion and fire that simply cannot be taught, and that "something" is exactly what Tracy brings to our departments every single day.
As a provider who works alongside many talented nurses, I am writing to formally commend Tracy Bowman with the DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses. It is rare to find a professional who so seamlessly blends high-level clinical skill with a driven, community-focused personality that fundamentally changes the environment for our patients.
I have personally witnessed her go above and beyond in the following ways:
Exceptional Clinical Advocacy: Tracy is a fierce advocate who does not hesitate to fight for her patients' needs, often staying late to ensure a complex care plan is perfectly executed before she leaves.
Compassion in Crisis: I witnessed her during a family's worst day, providing a sense of calm and reassurance to parents and significant others that goes far beyond standard nursing duties.
Visionary Leadership with a driven community Impact: She doesn't just treat the patient; she treats the community. She deeply understands and champions our vision for both the Pediatric Cardiology and the Heart Failure program. Her dedication to these specialties elevates the practice of everyone around her and sets a gold standard for our community's care. As I have stated so many times, regardless of your zip code, everyone deserves a standard level of care, and she is a shining example of this belief.
Reliability & Leadership: Her presence in these programs provides a sense of security for the entire medical team. She is the definition of what a nurse should be: proactive, empathetic, and relentless in her pursuit of excellence.
In my experience, Tracy is an essential pillar of our team. She treats every patient as if they were her own family, and her dedication to our mission is truly extraordinary. She is truly irreplaceable! The Pediatric cardiology and Heart Failure programs would not be as successful without her and likely not possible in all honesty.
I have practiced at several tertiary centers alongside some of the most highly trained nurses in the field, and in all that time, I have never felt the need to write a nomination like this until now. While you can train someone on protocols and procedures, there is an innate compassion and fire that simply cannot be taught, and that "something" is exactly what Tracy brings to our departments every single day.
