One of our patients on Medicine Team C was receiving his 1st round of chemotherapy for lymphoma. On rounds I heard the patient had become very upset with the intern, was very rude, was threatening to leave. Tracy was key in identifying that the patient's behavior was due the steroid he was receiving with his chemo. By the time we saw him he was calm, and he apologized for his behavior. Tracy had explained to him why he felt so agitated and had calmed him significantly. Tracy worked hard and facilitated the relationship between our team and the patient.
As a result of Tracy's compassionate care, the patient was able to complete his chemo and was less agitated and allowed us to give him the best care.
The Resident was so happy she hugged Tracy and wanted to take her with us on rounds to see all our patients. Thank you Tracy!
