Tracy is a phenomenal nurse and coworker. During the last shift we worked together, this became more evident than ever. Tracy’s patient had recently been diagnosed with breast cancer. The patient had just delivered her baby and needed to have an urgent MRI done so that treatment could begin promptly. Tracy was caring for the patient in post-partum when the obstetrician ordered a stat MRI, to be completed the morning after the baby delivered. It was a weekend, and the cancer center was closed. Tracy explained to the family, that the inpatient MRI suite did not have the specialty equipment required for this patient's unique imaging exam. But she did not leave it at that. Tracy spent hours reaching out to a team member from the cancer center to get the information and equipment needed in order to complete the MRI.

 Tracy emailed the cancer center coordinator, contacted the doctor, and managed to get all of the patient's information sent over to the imaging center that evening. Tracy also made sure the patient had all the correct information before she was discharged home that evening. Tracy also made certain that the team followed-up with the patient the next day, to ensure that she got the testing and care that she needed.
