My husband (29yrs) came into the ER after having 2 strokes in his sleep. Being so young, he went through test after test so they could figure out what happened. It turns out that my husband has had a PFO (hole in his heart) since birth. All throughout the day, nurses came in and out of the room to check on him, pass out meds, and ask if he needed anything. They were very polite and usually said they had no new information when we asked. By late afternoon, one nurse really stood out from the rest. Tracy came into our room ready to help us understand what was going on outside of our hospital room. She asked specific questions to make sure my husband was comfortable and didn't feel like a bother. When my husband wasn't taking the situation seriously, she shared personal experiences with him so he understood how bad his situation could become if he didn't follow the recommendations of the doctors. She was stern and professional, informative and kind. Tracy communicated with us every step of the way. She went over her notes with us in detail and explained to the best of her knowledge what was going on. We looked forward to seeing her on the second night of our stay. Though we knew she had other patients to tend to, she really made us feel that she was here just for us and that she would help us get to the bottom of our questions and concerns. She just went above and beyond for us, and we really appreciate her for it.
