May 2026 Honoree
Tracy Strain, MSN, RN, NPD-BC
This Honoree consistently goes above and beyond to help others—it is simply part of who they are. They are widely known for their compassion, which is demonstrated in countless meaningful ways. They are always professional and a strong advocate for both patients and employees.
The warmth they exude naturally draws people to them—whether patients in need of comfort or colleagues seeking support. They have been witnessed pausing during a busy day to comfort a patient who simply needed a hug or someone to listen. Employees feel safe approaching them because they know they will listen without judgment and provide guidance and support.
They are deeply committed to supporting new nurses. When orientees struggle, this educator takes the time to meet with them, identify barriers, and advocate for extended orientation when needed. They develop clear performance goals and actionable interventions, and despite staffing challenges, work alongside orientees, offering encouragement and hands-on guidance. They believe that helping even one nurse succeed strengthens both the individual and the organization.
Recently, in response to increased infection rates in one area, they partnered with leadership to develop and implement a comprehensive plan focused on education for both patients and staff. This initiative is already contributing to a reduction in infection rates and improving overall outcomes.
Their dedication to professional growth is equally inspiring. They have earned a master's degree and national certification and are currently pursuing a doctorate. They also actively support the development of others by assisting employees in accessing educational opportunities and advancing their careers.
This Honoree exemplifies the true spirit of the DAISY Award through compassion, leadership, and unwavering commitment to excellence in nursing—making a lasting difference in the lives of patients, families, and colleagues every single day.
