Tracy Verdegan, RN

I was at Elmbrook Hospital this week - but not as a provider - as a patient who needed surgery. Tracy was my nurse for both days. Things are different on the other side: transitioning from physician to patient. Many of the staff would have been very nervous taking care of someone they see every day - not Tracy. She was so compassionate, understanding, and on top of every detail from minute one. On day 2, minor complications arose with incredible pain and spasm, as well as bleeding with a significant drop in blood count. So many assessments and medication changes were needed. Several audibles were called. Smoothly and accurately. Can you imagine giving a suppository to someone whom you have worked alongside for years? Tracy didn't flinch - She did what was needed. Due to my surgery and minor complication, I experienced some of the worst pain in my life. Worse than my hip or knee replacement surgery. Tracy got me through the worst of times with medications, but also her calming, professional demeanor. I see Tracy in a new light now. I always knew she was an excellent nurse, but now I realized she is so much more.
