Having to stay in the hospital can be stressful as it is. Knowing you are a new mom to a 6-month-old and being away from them for the first time adds additional stress and anxiety. Recently, a patient who was admitted to IMC had to experience being away from her 6-month-old son, and it was taking quite a toll on her. Considering the visitation restrictions, Trae Drexler went above and beyond to coordinate with the IMC Providers and Charge Nurse to find a way to get this patient off the unit for visitation with her family. This nurse packed a bag of emergency supplies and portable monitoring equipment and took the patient to the lobby to visit with her husband and son. This nurse could have said no when asked about seeing her son, but he went above and beyond just so she could have those few minutes to bring some happiness in a stressful situation. The family member writing this nomination stated, “The joy and relief on her face seeing her family was something I’ll remember forever.” Trae, we cannot thank you enough for everything you did to help bring comfort during this patient’s stay. You are beyond deserving of recognition.

Thank you, Trae, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
