Trasheda has a passion for nursing that is consistently demonstrated in the care she provides to patients. Serving as her clinical instructor, it was obvious with patient interaction that she was sensitive to the patient's needs. Going the "extra mile" to address patients' concerns was a common behavior. Trasheda was caring for a neutropenic patient on an oncology floor who also had a critical platelet count. With close monitoring of the patient's status, she was able to identify early signs of sepsis. She communicated significant abnormal assessment findings of an elevated temperature (103), inability to void, and bleeding to the nursing staff so that early intervention was initiated for the patient to receive platelets and antibiotic therapy. The patient was stabilized and was able to remain on the unit.
Trasheda was asked to assist in a Health Fair for an elementary school during a school break time. The request was at the last minute. With only a three day notice, Trasheda willingly volunteered to assist and recruited her peers to help.
