August 2026 Honoree
Travis Barre, RN
I experienced a miscarriage at 12 weeks of our baby that had stopped growing at 10 weeks. I ended up hemorrhaging and needing to come to the ER. As I sat in the wheelchair at the front check-in, I could feel an astonishing level of blood coming out of me, soaking through my clothes while struggling to stay conscious. I was scared and humiliated. Travis reassured me immediately that he didn't care about the bleeding but was here to help me. He made me feel such a deep sense of security during a really horrifying experience. His concern was genuine, and I felt a sense of peace come over me because I knew I was in good hands with him. He was thorough and kind and brought a smile to my face in the midst of a very bad day. It didn't take a lot, but I had seen some healthcare workers already during this miscarriage, and his was the first presence that made a difference in my ability to remain calm in a moment of deep sorrow and worry about whether I would get home to see my other kids again. Thank you, Travis—the work you are doing matters.
Thank you, Travis, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
