Our daughter, granddaughter, and niece is a patient at Abrazo West Hospital. She was involved in a major vehicle accident and suffered severe injuries. The accident left one person deceased, and my niece in critical condition. Everything with her has been like a roller coaster ride. The ups and downs are devastating. My niece has had to endure major surgeries, spiking temperatures, a tracheostomy, rising blood pressures, as well as numerous other symptoms. All of this has been frightening and difficult to deal with. The fear of losing her has been a struggle. Throughout all of this, Travis Patterson has been here for my niece and my family. Travis is our hero. Nurse Travis is kind, compassionate, professional, and dedicated to performing his job. Travis understands that in order to treat and take care of the patient that you have to take care of the family as well. That was very reassuring for us as a family. Travis is extremely smart and knowledgeable and he knows his job. Travis is an extraordinary nurse and clinician. He is highly skilled, and a great team player. I have observed that he works well with his co-workers and is always willing to help. Travis consistently displays and promotes the highest ethical standards. He efficiently demonstrates the true meaning of patient and family care. Travis involved my family in my niece's care. That was mind blowing! It made us feel good. I am so very grateful and appreciative for Travis. His ability to care for both patients and family is amazing. Travis helped our bodies and our minds to heal along with my niece. He took the time to explain things to us. To educate us. Travis is an advocate and a partner for all of his patients, but what especially impressed me was he was an advocate and a true caregiver for my niece. When she was in pain, he held her hand and spoke to her in a calm voice. Travis is working so hard to help my niece and it has not gone unnoticed. Sometimes nursing is a thankless job. But, we are very thankful for Travis. He made a lasting impression and a difference in my family’s life. Our time at Abrazo West has been good because of Travis. Our family wishes to express our love, respect, and gratitude to Travis, our nurse! The treatment plan at times has been confusing. Travis has managed to skillfully care for my niece and help us navigate and understand the situation at the same time. Travis is phenomenal. He took time to see us as an important part of my niece's care. He treated us with dignity and respect. Which at times may have been hard because trust me, we are a challenging bunch of nurses, CRNAs, lawyers, and police officers. Travis just saw us as a family who loves and cares about their family member. He is our hero. Travis did his job well.
