The triage nurses took on SEVERAL new software platforms to increase efficiency and to ensure the best possible aftercare instructions and outcomes for our patients. These nurses have triaged thousands of calls, making sure our patients have a safe disposition, which ranges from home care to 911. Not only do they utilize a new triage tool, but each and every triage relies on their critical thinking, clinical expertise, sound judgment, and the relationships they have formed with our clinic partners. On top of triaging patients with varied acute and emergent complaints, this also included triaging those patients who flagged a COVID concern prior to their visit on campus. These nurses are the "unsung heroes" quietly going about their work, listening to every acute concern brought to them. Together, we have collaborated with several departments to continue to build a program that offers the quality that Keck Medicine of USC is known for. These nurses address every call with professionalism, empathy, passion, and genuine concern for the patient's well-being. I'm so proud of this team and grateful to be a part of a team that upholds the professional practice of nursing through their collaborative spirit and teamwork.
