Tricia Sparks, RN

I wanted to recognize Trisha Sparks because she is an extraordinary nurse! She is always taking the babies as primaries that we call "chronic" babies. These babies are in our unit for prolonged periods, and they need extra love and care. They need more social attention during the shift, and a lot of nurses on our unit would rather be with extremely premature babies. Trisha takes these babies on stroller walks to socialize with other nurses, she gives them baths, she reads them books, she even uses her own money to buy them clothes. Many of these babies also do not have family members present for one reason or another. So Trisha is the family member for these babies. She advocates for them daily. Trisha has so much compassion for these babies. She truly loves these babies and gives her whole heart to their care. I am in awe of her love and tenderness towards these babies. I feel she should be recognized because she exemplifies what being an extraordinary nurse is: compassionate care, trustworthiness, and authenticity.
