After his appointment, Trina took veteran to his vehicle via wheelchair, assisted veteran into the vehicle and loaded it with his bags and oxygen tank.
A Veteran was newly diagnosed with a large lung mass, possible cancer. The Veteran left his hospital stay AMA. He was declining treatment here at the VA and on the outside. Trina was as always kind, caring, and has a way of the veteran feel special. She was able to talk the veteran into coming in to the VA for treatment. Trina also was able to discuss palliative care and pulmonary, in which the veteran agreed to both. Consults were placed. Pulmonary appointment was made too far out. She called pulmonary and was able to get the veteran seen sooner than later. Trina was also able to get the veteran to come to the VA for an ER follow up appointment in which he had also declined. She met the VA in the parking lot with a wheelchair and oxygen tank, as the veteran has difficulty breathing with exertion. Trina took him to his appointment. After his appointment, Trina took veteran to his vehicle via wheelchair, assisted veteran into the vehicle and loaded it with his bags and oxygen tank. I have the pleasure to work along side of Trina. She always puts the veteran first and goes above and beyond everyday at work. I wish I could give you more examples, however, that would be a book long. She is the true example of what a nurse should be like, like Florence Nightingale.
