Trina was extremely courteous while also getting down to business to ensure the safety of my daughter.
The ER Nurse, Trina, was absolutely amazing.  The last time our family (my daughter) was in the hospital was when she made a significant attempt to end her life and we almost lost her.  The team, especially Trina, was very supportive, and tapped into our needs, both my daughter who was triggered upon returning to Children’s, but also myself, the father, who recalls the experience vividly like it was yesterday.  Trina and the team made sure to follow up on the Suicide Screening and again offer if we needed additional support.  Fortunately, we were able to share that she is on her journey of receiving not only the help she needs, but the help she wants, and is invested in.  The care provided during this stay was efficient, concise, while respecting my knowledge of my daughter’s suspected diagnosis, and the relevant history related to the visit.  This was considered an “eye emergency” due to the possibility for inflammation and the infection to case damage to my daughter’s eye, and the nurse, Trina, was on top of calling the radiology department and getting a CT scan accomplished as soon as possible.  Trina was extremely courteous while also getting down to business to ensure the safety of my daughter.  Additionally, the team respected my daughter’s privacy by offering if she’d like me to step out to answer questions about her suicide attempt, any recent concerns, and if she would like any connections to any resources.  My daughter said, “No, my dad’s a nurse.” I understand what extraordinary nursing care means because I have done close work with the DAISY Foundation, and I consider myself a darn good nurse.  Trina deserves the recognition for the impact she had on my daughter’s care.  Specifically, in a time where a previous traumatic experience occurred the last time we were all in Children’s Hospital.  Please keep up the good work with effective screening for Suicide, depression and other relevant behavioral health needs of our children/teenagers.
