My six-year-old little baby, A, had dental surgery and we had such a great experience at the Woodland Surgery Center! My little guy was really excited about the whole adventure, but that can change so quickly with little ones when they see new faces, equipment, and the nurses start having them change into a gown, put on the blood pressure cuff, and stickers and wires for the heart monitor. Trish was wonderful with A. She made him feel so comfortable and made it fun for him. She did such a great job with him that by the time it came to wheel him back and part ways with Mama, he trusted her to take him away without needing any medication to help him relax! This was so important to me. One less drug he had to have in his system and knowing that he wasn't scared because he felt like he was going on an adventure with his friend who would bring him right back to Mama if he needed me.
Many nurses do well with children, and many do well with adults. Not only did Trish make my little boy feel safe, she earned my trust as well. When she went over the consents with me she took the time to explain things. The doctor came out to discuss the procedure and after care with me and then Trish went over it with me as well, almost to the letter just as the doctor had explained it. She explained what we could expect during every step of the way so nothing was a surprise. Trish did a great job and we thank her.
