My grandson needed two immunizations before school started. He is autistic, has limited verbal understanding, and struggles with unfamiliar situations. After discussing with Trish, she suggested that she come to him instead of him going to the care-a-van so that he would be in a more familiar place and would not be so overwhelmed. I loved that idea. Her work with R was nothing short of amazing; I'm still not sure how she gently wrangled him and managed to give two shots. It was quite impressive. But more than anything, I am forever grateful for her kind and patient care of a special needs child. They are the purest of souls, but their fear can take them to a level that is very hard to deal with. She never batted an eye. She never made him or me feel like we were being a burden. She appeared unruffled throughout her time with us. She even stayed for a bit to further put him at ease, saying that everything was okay and she understood his fear. I cannot possibly express how thankful the loved ones of these special children are for our experiences with wonderful people like Trish. It restores our faith in the world in which these small ones will be growing up. Ascension is very blessed to have Trish on board, and the care-a-van is a better place with her on it.
