Our son (6 months) had to come to UMC for emergency brain surgery because he was bleeding in his brain. As a parent, we were/are beyond scared. Seeing your son be wheeled off to surgery and not knowing if he is going to make it out is terrifying. All the nurses and doctors have been beyond terrific, helpful, caring, informative, not enough adjectives to describe the wonderful experience we've had in this trial in our family's life.
One specific situation that I felt went beyond the duties of a nurse is when we found out our son had a rare blood disorder and it was something we were going to have to manage his entire life. It was very overwhelming, to say the least. Trista was there and gave us comfort sharing a very personal experience of her own which gave us hope and was exactly what we needed.
