Tristen perfectly exemplifies what nursing is. She comes into work with a smile and great attitude for her patients and co-workers. Not only is she a great team player, but she shows compassion, love, and a great amount of patience with her patients.
The other day we had a new admission. The husband of the patient was disabled, he was able to walk but very slowly. He mentioned to his wife that he was going to head down to the café for dinner as he needed to take his medications for the night. Tristen offered to wheel him down. What I admired about her act of kindness was that it was 10 minutes before shift change. She could've ignored offering to help because it was busy, but she volunteered to do so and with a smile. That is just one of the many acts of kindness Tristen does daily and that's why I believe the DAISY Award is meant for her.
