Troy came to the room, sat with her, and held her hand.
Troy is dependable, volunteers for extra shifts, never complains, and always strives to do what is best for the residents. You do not doubt that each of our residents is receiving the very best when he is working. Troy will pick up shifts and switch scheduled days if a team member asks. It is also a comfort to new team members to have his years of knowledge and experience that he shares with them.
We all know when Troy is working, we are all blessed.
I often receive compliments and appreciation from residents and team members. Specifically, I would like to express gratitude on behalf of a resident. I interviewed the resident about what qualities she wanted to include about Troy in this nomination. She said two weeks ago, she was to have a newly ordered Dexcom placed. She was very anxious, scared, and crying. She had refused the other staff to place it because of her fear and anxiety. Staff called Troy to come talk with the resident because he is "her favorite". Troy came to the room, sat with her, and held her hand. He discussed what the Dexcom was and how this would lessen her needing frequent finger sticks due to fear of needles. He stayed with her until she was less anxious and allowed him to place it. She stated she never even knew when he did the placement. Team members also spoke with me regarding the willingness of Troy to step in and help not only the residents but also team members to provide care.
