Troy admitted a patient who was intubated and sedated. The patient was the only caregiver for his elderly mother who suffered from dementia, incontinence, seizures, and other health problems. Not only did Troy provide excellent care to both of his CCU patients, but he also stepped up and cared for the mother. He advised her on which medications she should take, according to her prescription instructions. He provided a meal for her when he found out she had not eaten all day. He provided her with a bedside commode and helped her use it and helped her clean up. Troy knew he had limited resources at night until he could consult social work, but he did not allow this to deter him and essentially cared for three patients all night. This is only one of many examples of Troy's caring heart and healer's touch. I am honored to be his coworker!
