Tukessa has put her heart and soul into educating her students on our campus. She was one of our very first clinical instructors, has taught most of the cohorts mental health AND took on LEAD VP role for the campus. She plays an essential role in disseminating important information to all VPs on a voluntary basis. Tukessa truly listens to her students, as well as the staff she works with, and reflects on how she can collaborate with others or come up with innovative ways to make student learning the best it can possibly be. A great example of her collaboration is her recent collaboration with our SimCare team to run a "hearing voices" activity during the NR320 sim day to increase empathy in our students taking care of clients who hear voices. Tukessa also played a large role in coordinating and running the campus health fairs with InnerVisions. Tukessa is also a natural didactic instructor; capturing student's interest in mental health through interactive teaching strategies. As I constantly walk by her classroom I can see the student's engaged faces as they act out and role play a variety of mental health conditions and situations. It is through engaging activities such as these that students connect with the information and are likely to remember and apply it to mental health situations they may face in clinical practice. Tukessa is an inspiration to her students, as well as other clinical instructors that she supports and encourages.
