This summer, I found my mom in severe septic shock from what we later learned was a kidney stone that caused a major infection. She was in critical condition, and quite honestly, we weren't sure if she was going to survive. When she was brought to St. Francis' emergency room, I felt such a relief to see a familiar face. Turner Carlisle and I graduated high school and nursing school together, so when I saw that he was her nurse I felt a little bit of comfort amidst the chaos that was happening. Turner's performance as a nurse was beyond anything I could have ever asked for. He was so quick and efficient, extremely knowledgeable of everything that was happening with her, worked incredibly well with his team members, and made the overall experience for us one that we will always remember. My mom was so sick (and is still fighting each day), but Turner comforted her and remained positive and calm through it all. That was the worst night of my life, and Turner was the little glimmer of light that I needed to be strong for my mother.
