Twasa is not just a regular nurse I have met out there, she is a born nurse, and she has been called by God to do this. I started precepting at the jail health not knowing what I was doing as it was a totally new experience for me, I was scared that she would think the worst of me. As soon as she met me, she greeted me, "good morning gorgeous". My spirits were lifted already; she was very patient with me and very thorough with all her documentation. One thing that caught my eye was how she spoke to the inmates, like they were her family, she congratulated the ones who already had their GED and advised the ones who had not, she applauded the ones who were sober even if it was a few weeks and thanked the ones that were respectful to her, she always advised the young and even the old to go out there and make a difference, she even went ahead and said that she would remember those who believed in prayers as she went home. When someone was sad and crying, she stopped, grabbed a tissue for them and sat with them until they stopped, never rushed them. I thank God for nurses like her, she has almost 10 years of experience and she treats her patients with so much compassion, love, and never judges anyone. She is always known to lift everyone's spirit up. She made a difference in my life and as a nurse, I will continue with the same spirit. God bless her always wherever she goes. Twasa is an angel in disguise to so many of us.
