Tyeisha has been nominated five times previously, when she was a staff nurse on 6JCP. This particular nomination was a special one, submitted by the wife of one of Tyeisha's patients. The patient and his wife attended the ceremony to read this nomination:

Tyeisha Washington has the God-given talent of being a very professional, caring and compassionate nurse. She not only shows compassion for the patient but also cares for their family. She was always updating me on my husband's condition. When two of my grandkids came to see their grandpa, we tried to prepare them for what he would look like and how he would act. When they came, she saw how terrified they were and asked if she could talk to them and explain the situation. What wonders she did with those two children! It was a life experience they will never forget. Since Grandpa has gotten home, the boys have talked many times about Tyeisha. When my husband was able to drink his beloved Diet Mt. Dew, she went and got one for him on her break. What a great asset to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics!!
