Tyler Carpenter, RN, BSN
I would like to recognize Tyler Carpenter, nurse manager on the Adult Perianesthesia unit.
During a busy day on our unit, we had a patient experience difficulty breathing in the restroom. When the RN called out for help, Tyler was the first to respond. He didn't even think twice about responding. He assisted in getting the patient back to bed.
He then jumped in and assisted in obtaining an IV for lab draws and making sure the nurse was free to answer physician questions, and allowed her to chart what was happening. I have never had a manager respond and participate so willingly to a rapid response. Tyler will also answer call bells, transport patients, and assist staff in any way possible.
Tyler doesn't act like a manager. He's one of the staff!
