I followed her study suggestion to start from general to specific in order to remember things better and I ended up getting 100% on a midterm exam for that subject. She congratulated me and informed me I was the first student to do so which showed caring and made me feel proud of us both. It was a very content-heavy group of chapters (cardio, respiratory, skin) but I followed her lectures in class (great visuals on the whiteboard), listened to her Brainsharks (recorded lectures which dive DEEP for whoever needs), read the chapters, and reviewed using the test bank she provided. I did the work but with her guidance, I was able to excel and I believe any student under her guidance as well will be able to achieve the exact same. She also has before every test a reminder for students to trust themselves and just do their best. It's very calming and makes the learning environment so supportive and student-oriented. She makes us feel like not only nursing students but people who are cared about and capable of doing well if we apply ourselves. She even knows certain people have more free time than others so the "study from general to specific" method really gives everyone the best bang for their buck when choosing how to use the time they have. The broad concept becomes details/facts but if you can't get all the details you can still get the concept and are more likely to test well/recall the information in practice.
She's just wonderful from the first lecture to the day of finals she was warm and encouraging. I asked Instructor King for a letter of recommendation. She sent it to me and it truly made me very emotional. I never felt the support that she gives her students. I thanked her in person, and she assured me that she believes in me and that I should confidently believe in myself. King showed me that there is always room for learning, and she is always eager to share her knowledge as well as gain new knowledge, and I can't identify just one example; I just know how many nights she is here after class with students in her office or on the phone doing a webex to enhance comprehension. She developed Bootcamps for her Patho (NR283) course to facilitate student learning and is patient in her teaching and re-teaching of the concepts. She truly desires to help every student succeed.
